I am currently on day 10 of The 21 Day Sugar Detox. If you haven't done one, I highly recommend it. Even if you don't think you eat that much sugar, you probably do.
I cut sugar out a long time ago, but I still enjoy doing these programs every so often. It's such a great mental challenge and test of your will power; like running a marathon for your mind. It's also a great way to determine if there are any emotional components to your food cravings. And it definitely changes your palette. You won't even want cake and ice cream, because it will taste too sweet after one bite.
I usually do Emily Schromm's 21-Day challenges which are similar, but have an exercise component. However, the last one was in October and I was too busy to participate at the time. I really wanted to do some type of challenge in November before the holidays started. I listen to my body and I could tell I needed to do a round of gut healing as well, so I am doing a leaky gut protocol in conjunction with the program. Emily's challenges allow honey, stevia, fruit, and sometimes maple syrup, so getting rid of all sweeteners, even natural ones, has been a new challenge for me. On The 21 Day Sugar Detox, no sweeteners are allowed, even natural ones.
The 21 Day Sugar Detox does allow for more bitter fruits such as green apples, green-tipped bananas, and grapefruit.
That's where this extremely easy snack comes in. Great for snacking during a football game, movie night, or for a late night craving. If you aren't on The 21 Day Sugar Detox, you can use any type of apple you choose.
P.S. Emily is running a FREE Holiday program that starts November 19. It includes daily exercises and healthy recipe swaps to keep you motivated for the holidays.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
You should have 8 pieces of apples, and 8 slices of prosciutto. Wrap each slice of prosciutto around the apple. If the prosciutto isn't staying in place, stick a toothpick through it.
Place on the baking sheet and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Let cool and enjoy!
